Why We Updated Frenzy AI's Revenue Lift Benchmark
Updated: Oct 15
For years, Frenzy AI has advertised an average 38% revenue increase compared to a Shopify store's previous merchandising setup. We're now retiring that number.
As Frenzy has grown and started working with larger Shopify brands, we decided to revisit our results and recalculate our performance benchmarks. We reviewed the initial A/B tests from all customers, comparing Frenzy against the merchandising those stores were previously using.
The updated result is 28.1% average revenue lift across Search, Collection Pages, and Recommendations.
Why would we advertise a smaller number? Simple. Because we'd rather publish the number we can stand behind than a bigger number that sounds better.
What Does That Mean in Actual Dollars?
Percentages are great, but what matters most is how much additional revenue your store generates.
For a Shopify store generating $1 million per month, our updated baseline model estimates:
Monthly Revenue | |
Before Frenzy AI | $1,000,000 |
With Frenzy AI | $1,140,500 |
Additional revenue | +$140,500 |
That's approximately $1,686,000 in additional annual revenue, without needing to acquire more visitors.
Here's how we calculate that: Search, Collection Pages, and Recommendations account for 50% of store revenue in our baseline model. For a store generating $1 million per month, that's $500,000 in influenced revenue. Applying the 28.1% average lift to that influenced revenue produces $140,500 in additional monthly revenue, equal to a 14.05% modeled total-site effect. Actual results will vary.
And this is where merchandising becomes particularly interesting.
If your store generates more revenue from the same visitors, every marketing channel becomes more valuable. Google Ads, Meta, email marketing, organic search, and influencer campaigns can all deliver more revenue without additional traffic.
To generate the same $140,500 through customer acquisition alone, a store would need approximately 14.05% more equally productive traffic, assuming revenue scales proportionally. Acquiring that additional traffic would typically cost money.
Frenzy doesn't compete with customer acquisition. It compounds it.
How Do Our Results Compare With the Best?
According to McKinsey, personalization typically increases revenue by 10–15%.
BCG's retail research identified 25%+ revenue lift as part of its best-in-class personalization benchmark.
Frenzy's updated result? 28.1% average revenue lift across Search, Collection Pages, and Recommendations - the exact areas of a Shopify store we optimize.
While these studies measure different types of personalization, our results are approaching the performance associated with industry leaders.
The difference? We don't assume what works best. We A/B test it and let the revenue decide.
Don't Trust Our Averages. Test It Yourself.
Every Shopify store is different. A store doing $250K per month using Shopify Search & Discovery isn't the same as a $3M/month store using Algolia, Rebuy, or Searchspring.
That's why we built the Frenzy AI Revenue Calculator.
Enter your monthly revenue, monthly traffic, and current merchandising platform to see a data-backed estimate of the additional revenue Frenzy could generate for your store. You'll also see where that revenue may come from across Search, Collection Pages, and Recommendations.
But here's the most important part: don't trust the calculator either.
It's an estimate based on historical customer results. The real answer comes from running Frenzy head-to-head against your existing merchandising setup using your store's live traffic.
Then we measure which setup actually generates more revenue.
Could we have kept advertising 38%? Probably. But as we continue growing, we want our performance claims to be clearer, more consistent, and easier for customers to verify.
The number got smaller. The proof got stronger.
